While designing at Salomon, James was tasked with creating a ‘Salomon ski pack’ that combined the best of two existing iconic packs; the X-ALP (a very technical mountaineering pack initially created for Kilian Jornet) and the QST (popular with freeride athletes). The result would be one of Salomon’s most technical ski mountaineering packs. The pack was to come in three volumes; one for off-piste, one for day ski touring and one for multi-day touring.
